Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS)

A Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) is generally defined as covered, land-based, intensive aquaculture in which the water is reconditioned as it circulates through the system without discharging any quantity of it back into the environment.   Another advantage of RAS systems is that they allow a larger amount of aquatic organisms to be grown in a smaller area than in open pond farms.
